Job Description
Description The Athletic Trainer is a 10-month position that assists the Head Athletic Trainer with the day-to-day management of the Sports Medicine Department, which includes, but is not limited to, the health, safety, and wellness of all student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer provides game and practice coverage of athletic teams. Examples of Duties Under the guidance of the Head Athletic Trainer, the following are the functions essential to performing this job: Assess injuries, administer treatment, and provide rehabilitation programs for athletes. Instruct athletes on injury prevention. Provide medical coverage of athletic games and practices. Maintain and monitor records related to injuries of athletes. Initiate student-athlete mental health programs and awareness. Work with coaches to implement off-season conditioning programs. Communicate with physicians and other members of the medical profession as necessary. Act as liaison between student-athletes, parents, doctors, coaches, and the athletic department. Adhere to all Chesapeake College, Region XX, MD JUCO and NJCAA rules and regulations. Assist with game management and act as game manager in event Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director is not present. Complete fitness center orientations for college staff. Act as lead for fitness center projects such as ordering new equipment. Schedule fitness center, main gym, and multipurpose gym maintenance and repairs. Schedule athletic training room equipment and modality calibrations/safety checks. Assist with inventory and reordering of athletic training supplies/equipment Ensure coaches are maintaining current trainings/certifications (CPR/First Aid, BBP, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned.
