Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) recognize and evaluate sports injuries. They provide first aid or emergency care; develop and carry out rehabilitation programs for injured athletes; and plan and implement comprehensive programs to prevent injury among athletes. Athletic trainers collaborate with medical doctors to provide emergency and follow-up care. They provide a vital communication link between the injured athlete, the physician, the coach, and the athlete's family to determine when the athlete can safely return to practice and competition. |- JOB•FUNCTIONS•| | - | •
Clinical:
- Provides athletic training services to area recreational groups, schools, and other organization as assigned
- Assist with Saturday morning clinics
- Assist with planning and implementing pre-season physicals for athletes
- Remains competent in the following areas:
- Modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrotherapy
- Therapeutic exercise
- First Aide
- Attends and provides continuing education in servicing
- Serves as mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers
- Serves as clinical supervisor for student athletic trainers while completing their hours
Budget:
- Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory of sports medicine supplies and remaining within the monthly supply budget
- Charges patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment and equipment
Other:
- Must be competent in use of computer for documentation and charging purposes
- Must provide own transportation
