Job Description

UCA Part-Time Contracted Athletic Trainer Employment Type:
Part-Time /
Independent Contractor Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate (commensurate with qualifications and experience) Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, qualified, and dedicated part-time contract athletic trainer to provide medical coverage, injury prevention, and emergency care for our athletic programs. In this role, you will attend home games and practices as needed to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of our student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities Coverage:
Attend scheduled home games, scrimmages, and practices as needed based on athletic schedules.
Emergency Care & Triage:
Provide immediate on-site emergency care, CPR/AED response, and basic first aid during events.
Injury Prevention & Evaluation:
Assess acute injuries, provide initial treatment, and apply taping, wrapping, or bracing before activities.
Concussion Management:
Recognize concussion signs and symptoms and implement standard protocol for evaluation and removal from play.
Communication:
Maintain clear communication with coaching staff, administrators, and parents regarding player injuries and return-to-play timelines. Qualifications & Requirements Certification /
Licensure:
Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) or Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) preferred.
Non-LAT Candidates:
Must hold valid, current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications and complete required Concussion Management Training prior to start date.
Experience:
Prior experience working with youth, high school, or collegiate athletics is strongly preferred.
Flexibility:
Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekend hours aligned with event schedules.
Skills:
Strong decision-making skills under pressure, excellent interpersonal communication, and a strong commitment to athlete safety.
