11/01/2026 Job Description The East Ramapo Central School District is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, student-centered Certified Athletic Trainer to evaluate, prevent, recognize and manage athletic injuries and illnesses among student-athletes, and to provide preventive conditioning training to coaches. The incumbent may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. An ideal candidate has high school experience, understands long-term athletic development and injury prevention, collaborates well with administrators and colleagues, and fosters positive, respectful relationships with students, families, coaches and the community. Candidates must meet all New York State licensure requirements prior to their start date. The work is performed under the supervision of the
Athletic Director Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a comparable field (Master's preferred).
  • Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
  • Current NYS Athletic Trainer license (or eligibility) issued by the NYS Education Department — must be submitted at time of application.
Other Requirements and Information:
Attends athletic events and practices and provides on-field first aid for athletic injuries and illnesses; Provides in-service training to coaches on preventive conditioning, weight training, injury management and preventative taping measures; Maintains liaison with the school's physicians and nurses; Assists physicians and nurses in ensuring that all student-athletes receive proper examinations and screenings prior to the issuance of sports participation clearance; Keeps daily records of athletic injuries, therapy and rehabilitation activities; Implements rehabilitation programs in coordination with a physical therapist or physician; Submits injury and student progress reports to all relevant coaches; Provides input on the selection, evaluation and fitting of athletic equipment; Refers students to appropriate medical professionals as needed; Consults with school physicians regarding the return-to-play status of injured students; Submits reports to the Athletic Director as required
Salary and Benefits:
Salary and benefits are competitive with the public sector market including but not limited to the following: 35 hours - work week $75,000 - $100,000 annual (as of 10/01/2026) Medical, Dental and Vision Time off including vacation, personal and holiday time New York State Pension Eligibility How to
