Job Description

The Certified Athletic Trainer at the Medical University of South Carolina supports student-athlete health in an educational setting. Responsibilities include on-field and clinic-based injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation; implementing prevention and conditioning programs; providing emergency care and game/practice coverage; and collaborating with physicians, physical therapists, and faculty. The trainer documents care, educates athletes on injury prevention and recovery, and supports research and teaching initiatives within MUSC's innovative, collaborative healthcare environment. Responsibilities Provide on-field and clinic-based injury evaluation and treatment for student-athletes Design and implement individualized rehabilitation and return-to-play programs Deliver injury prevention, conditioning, taping, and bracing services Provide emergency care and coverage for practices, games, and events Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and faculty on athlete care plans Maintain accurate documentation and medical records in accordance with regulations Educate student-athletes on injury prevention, recovery, and wellness Support MUSC's educational and research initiatives in sports medicine Required Skills Injury assessment and evaluation Rehabilitation program design Therapeutic modalities application Emergency care and first aid Taping and bracing techniques Documentation and medical recordkeeping Collaboration with physicians and PTs Return-to-play protocols Patient education Knowledge of NCAA/secondary school sports medicine standards
