(Increases with tenure) 7 paid holidays + 2 floating holidays Athletic training is the care and service provided by or under the direction or supervision of a certified athletic trainer. It entails evaluation, treatment and management of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders for the purpose of promoting and enhancing human functional performance. Provide services directed toward achieving increased functional independence, decreasing functional limitations, and prevention of injuries to the physically active individual/athlete. Upon the advice and consent of a physician, carry out the practice of prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, disposition, treatment, and/or rehabilitation of injuries. Use physical modalities, such as heat, light, sound, cold, electricity, or mechanical devices related to treatment of the injured individual. Provide education in the prevention of injuries, conditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries is an integral part of their scope of practice. Direct and supervise athletic training services under the direction of physicians and in accordance with individual state practice acts. Interact and practice in collaboration with a variety of professionals, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists. Consult, educate, engage in research, and administrate. Document evaluative findings, treatments administered, the assessment of patient response to treatment and treatment plan. Communicate with the referring physician regarding patient progress. Attend required meetings and participate as requested. Clean and maintain treatment area and workspace. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Maintains a professional manner while effectively working with others. Knowledge and skills in athletic training and orthopedic rehabilitation. Knowledge and skills in rehab equipment and safety regulations. Knowledge of medical terminology. Customer Service Skills Patient Care skills Knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office programs. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all written and oral communications, including email. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before patients and groups of customers or employees of the organization. A self-starter with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university athletic training program. Experience as an athletic trainer or supervised internship. Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association. Licensure by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
