Job Description
OHWS Athletic Trainer Job Description Minimum Qualifications - Athletic Trainer Education & Certifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training or a closely related field (preferred based on the services required). Current Athletic Trainer certification and all applicable state licensure, if required. Current CPR/AED certification. Must possess and maintain all licenses and certifications required to perform services under the contract. Demonstrated training and continuing education focused on neck and back injury prevention and treatment, such as the McKenzie Method or an equivalent evidence-based approach. Experience Experience evaluating musculoskeletal injuries and movement dysfunction. Experience developing individualized rehabilitation and injury prevention plans. Experience treating orthopedic and sports-related injuries. Experience working with tactical athletes, military personnel, collegiate athletes, or other high-performance populations is preferred. Experience providing manual therapy and movement-based rehabilitation. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, biomechanics, and injury prevention. Ability to perform comprehensive functional movement evaluations. Ability to recognize conditions requiring referral to a physician or other licensed medical provider. Strong documentation and reporting skills. Ability to educate clients on injury prevention and recovery strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Essential Duties Conduct baseline evaluations of assigned clients, including: Functional movement assessments Muscular balance and stability Range of motion Pain and discomfort evaluations Strength and conditioning assessments Develop individualized training and rehabilitation plans. Provide pre-flight and post-flight athletic training services to prepare fighter pilots for the physical demands of flight and assist with recovery afterward. Perform athletic training interventions, including: Soft tissue manipulation Joint mobilization/manipulation Traction Other evidence-based injury prevention and treatment techniques within the Athletic Trainer's scope of practice. Conduct pre-workout wellness screenings and identify participants requiring medical evaluation. Educate clients on nutrition, sleep hygiene, stress management, and injury prevention. Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment. Monitor fitness equipment and report deficiencies. Collect utilization and outcome data and prepare reports on program effectiveness. Additional Requirements Ability to work on-site at the 158th Fighter Wing, Vermont Air National Guard, South Burlington, VT. Work schedule is generally Tuesday through Saturday, between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with hours extending to 8:00 PM when mission requirements dictate. Ability to obtain and maintain installation access and a Common Access Card (CAC), if required. Complete all mandatory Government training, including Antiterrorism (AT) Level I, Cyber Awareness, OPSEC, and other required training before or during contract performance.
