Summary This position is located at Chinle Service Unit, Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Division of Clinical Services, Rehabilitation Department, Audiology Section, Chinle, AZ. The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional work requiring the application of knowledge of concepts of Audiology and the integration of such work with other medical and therapeutic services.

Responsibilities Performs a wide range of audiologic services across all patient age ranges from neonatal to geriatric to ascertain the type and degree of hearing loss, including specialized diagnostic measures such as Auditory Brainstem Response testing. Provides professional counseling to patients regarding the testing process, hearing, hearing loss and its adverse effects on general health, audiologic and/or ENT intervention as applicable, and in home rehabilitation measures and future educational possibilities and resources to parents/guardians/caregivers of children with hearing loss. Performs comprehensive hearing aid evaluations, selection, and fitting of appropriate hearing aids and assistive listening devices based on the type and degree of hearing loss. Assists with coordination of audiologic screening and follow-up with state health agencies, school audiologists, school nurses, public health nurses, and other interested agencies when required. Assist with strategic planning, policy formulation, budget management, human resource management, performance improvement, total quality management, information management, equipment and supplies management, infection control, risk management and safety, and front office management as appropriate. Collaborates with the supervisor on establishing a working budget for the fiscal year, policy formulation and strategies for improving delivery of Audiology Services. Background Investigation Requirement:

This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service. Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. BASIC REQUIREMENT

Degree:

A graduate or higher level graduate degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice. Your education program must have been approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology ( CAA ) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ( ASHA ) at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure:

A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Audiology in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

: GS-11: Three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or one (1) year of experience equivalent to at least GS-9 grade level. Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-11 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provides professional audiology services across the lifespan, including diagnostic evaluations, Auditory Brainstem Response testing, hearing-aid selection, fitting and verification, treatment assessment, and patient counseling. Provides clinical consultation and coordinates audiologic screening, treatment, and follow-up with healthcare teams, schools, public health agencies, and community organizations. Maintains clinical records, monitors equipment calibration, supports hearing-aid services, provides professional education and training, and monitors audiology doctoral students. Supports Audiology program operations through strategic planning, policy development, budgeting, quality improvement, resource management, safety, and coordination of clinical and community services. GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector.
