The NYU Langone Health Cochlear Implant Center is seeking two skilled and compassionate 4th year, Doctor of Audiology (Au.
D.) student for a full-time audiology externship during the 2027-2028 academic year. NYU Langone is one of the nation's leading academic health systems. Externs will train in a collaborative academic medical center committed to high-quality, patient-centered care and the use of advanced technology to achieve the best possible outcomes. Audiology doctoral externs can expect a wide range of clinical experiences during the externship including: Developmentally appropriate comprehensive behavioral audiologic evaluations for pediatric and adult populations, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance testing and otoacoustic emissions Electrophysiologic testing Hearing device evaluation, programming, fitting, repair and follow-up for patients using hearing aids, FM systems, bone conduction devices and CROS systems Cochlear implant and auditory brainstem implant candidacy evaluations, programming, follow-up evaluations and ongoing maintenance Vestibular assessment Counseling and education for patients and families regarding hearing loss, communication strategies and device use Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care Candidates must have successfully completed all required coursework and clinical placements up to the application deadline and the applicant selected must maintain successful completion of coursework and clinical placements through the start of the externship.

In addition, the NYU CIC hosts an annual cochlear implant programming conference each November or December, in which externs play an active role and participate throughout the planning and educational activities.

Yes The NYU CIC and hearing research labs conduct many research studies and the extern will spend 1 day a week for approximately 5 months participating in some of the these studies.
