About Us :

California Montessori Project (CMP) is a successful public charter school network based in the greater Sacramento area with an exceptional TK-8 Montessori program that is tuition-free and open to all students. The network serves over 3,000 students on seven campuses. CMP is authorized through, and maintains strong relationships with four school districts: Elk Grove Unified School District, Sacramento City Unified School District, San Juan Unified School District and Buckeye Union School District. CMP teachers are supported in pursuing dual-certification, holding a Montessori certification from an AMS-accredited training center and a California state credential. The CMP Leadership Team, including the Governing Board, Directors, Principals, and Deans, provide stability and focused guidance to the organization.

Summary/Objective The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavioral assessment, consultation, and intervention support for students with special needs across CMP campuses. The BCBA collaborates with teachers, staff, and families to develop evidence-based behavior intervention plans and to train and coach staff in implementation. This role directly supports CMP's mission by ensuring students are provided with safe, inclusive, and effective learning environments that foster independence and academic success. Essential Functions Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in accordance with IDEA and California Education Code. Provide direct modeling, coaching, and consultation to teachers, instructional assistants, and administrators on implementing behavior support strategies. Train and supervise Instructional Assistants (IAs), Behavior Technicians, and/or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), ensuring fidelity to student behavior plans. Collaborate with IEP teams to integrate behavioral support with academic and social-emotional goals. Collect, analyze, and present behavioral data to drive decision-making and progress monitoring. Provide professional development on topics such as classroom management, positive behavior supports, and de-escalation strategies. Assist District staff with the development and implementation of behavior plans, ABA strategies, and other appropriate interventions for students with Autism and/or other disabilities that present behavior/learning challenges. Support crisis response and assist in de-escalation, restraint, or seclusion procedures in compliance with Education Code. Ensure compliance with documentation requirements, including Behavior Emergency Reports (BERs) and service logs. Provide strategies to support behavior management to site level intervention teams. Partner with families to foster consistency between school and home support. Travel between multiple CMP campuses to provide site-based support. Competencies Expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), evidence-based behavioral interventions, and ethical guidelines. Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills with a diverse team of educators, families, and related service providers. Effective communication skills both oral and written Ability to train, coach, and provide feedback to staff. Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, California Education Code, and compliance requirements. Commitment to Montessori philosophy and inclusive practices. Supervisory Responsibilities ( if applicable) May provide oversight and coaching to Behavior Intervention staff, instructional aides, or Behavior Technicians assigned to implement behavioral interventions. May assist in the onboarding, training, and performance feedback of behavioral support staff. Work Environment This job operates in a school/classroom environment. The BCBA will work across multiple sites, collaborating with staff in general education and special education settings. The role may involve both office-based tasks (e.g., report writing, data analysis) and on-site behavioral observations in classrooms, playgrounds, or other campus locations. May require occasional attendance at evening meetings, professional development sessions, or district-level consultations. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands, and reach. The position may require supporting students in crisis situations, which could involve physical intervention in accordance with CPI training and CMP guidelines.

Travel Requirements Travel between CMP's campus locations and the central administration building. Adherence to CMP's Motor Vehicle Use policy is required. Required Education and Experience Master's degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Psychology, or related field. Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification. Minimum 2 years' experience providing behavioral support in school or clinical settings. Preferred Education and Experience Experience providing training or professional development to school staff. Prior supervisory experience with RBTs, behavior assistants, or instructional staff implementing behavioral supports. Familiarity with special education compliance, IDEA, and California Education Code requirements.
