They assist in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and collect daily behavior data to monitor and track student progress. Behavior Technicians provide support in various educational settings, including special day classes, resource specialist classrooms, and general education environments. Responsibilities include monitoring and redirecting behavior, promoting the development of appropriate skills, and performing related tasks as assigned. Behaviors of concern may include, but are not limited to, elopement, verbal or physical aggression, and refusal.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Understand and apply basic Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and behavior management principles in classroom settings. Respond to behavior incidents in real-time. Assess student needs and implement appropriate behavior interventions.
Collect and submit data for:
Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Ongoing behavior tracking Assist in developing paper and digital data tracking tools. Implement, monitor, and model BIPs to support behavior change. Stay informed on various behavior intervention practices to support multiple students. Collaborate with the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to analyze data and recommend BIP revisions. Provide physical intervention for students exhibiting unsafe behaviors, when required. Provide behavior data for IEP meetings as needed. Attend regular department meetings with the BCBA. Maintain consistency of BIPs through communication and collaboration with teachers and support staff. Support multiple students across various age groups and sites, as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of pertinent academic areas and learning situations. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of Standard English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of school related information. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted during performance of job duties. Ability to develop rapport with all students by being fair, consistent and respectful. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize own work to meet deadlines and accomplish assigned tasks within established timelines. Ability to take appropriate actions in emergency situations and follow procedures in a calm, reasonable manner.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma. Associates Degree or higher, preferred. Minimum two years of experience working with students.
Required Licenses/Certificates:
Current CPR and First Aid certificate. Must hold a valid Registered Behavior Technician Certification from Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Applicants must be fingerprinted and have a satisfactory Department of Justice record check prior to employment. Salary Range- 18 10 month position
