What You'll Do:

As a collaborative member of the Special Education team and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Salem Public Schools, the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst works with school-aged students, staff, and families to provide direct services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related behavioral challenges. They provide modeling and consultation to staff who work with our students. The BCBA must be proficient with observation and data collection and be able to develop and implement positive support plans that foster student success. We are seeking a team player who can multi-task, prioritize, and provide meaningful instruction to children and adults. The selected individual must be able to form and maintain relationships with families while respecting confidentiality and enforcing appropriate boundaries. Assigned work is largely within the confines of the school setting, and at times providing some home/school facilitation. This specialist is responsible for maintaining required documentation to track services and to meet requirements for allowable Medicaid reimbursement.

Role Responsibilities:

Ensure ABA strategies are implemented consistently and accurately across all settings Evaluate students for services (use of

ABBLS, VB

MAPP, FBA, observational data, checklists) Oversee the development of data-collection mechanisms, data analysis, and data reporting procedures to monitor targeted behaviors and student progress Define all target behaviors in objective and measurable terms and design individualized IEP goals and objectives. Develop appropriate behavior support plans, program books, social skills curriculum and ensure consistency in programming Present evidence of student progress toward goals and objectives through IEP progress reports and special education meetings Assist with professional development Provide staff with resources, tools, and modeling of techniques Perform home consults as necessary, including home program books Work 1:1 with students and run small social skill groups, if needed Complete needed paperwork and job-related functions in a timely manner Routinely attend district and school-based meetings, training, and professional development Perform other duties as required by the BCBA Supervisor and/or

Job Requirements:

State certified or certifiable as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Experience with delivering school-based services to school-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, PreK-12 Complete required service documentation and School-Based Medicaid submissions Possess effective written and oral communication skills Safety Care Training Certification or willing to be certified (District will provide training) Bilingual (Spanish) skills advantageous Current authorization to work in the United States required The BCBA is considered a district-wide staff member and assignments are made on a yearly basis, depending upon the current caseload. The BCBA works under the supervision of the Special Education Administrator, and the Executive Director of Special Education.

Work Year:

BCBAs in Salem Public Schools work a 185 day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days. Please click here to view the 2026-27 district and/or school calendars. The BCBA is considered a district-wide staff member and assignments are made on a yearly basis, depending upon the current caseload. The BCBA works under the supervision of the Special Education Administrator, and the Executive Director of Special Education.

Salary:

BCBA salaries in the Salem Public Schools are determined by the Salem Teachers Union collective bargaining agreement (see new 2024-27 language with updated salary information here ).
