Job Description

Job Title:

Community School Registered Behavior Technician Reports to: School Principal

Essential Summary:

At the direction of the principal, the registered behavior technician will assist teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being. Duties involve working with students individually and in small groups assessing performance, reinforcing instruction, motivating learning, assisting with classroom management, assisting with behavior management, clerical, and non-instructional work.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports teacher and function of the overall classroom, assists individual students as well

as students in small groups to reinforce and promote academic and behavioral successes.

Implement and/or assist teaching staff with instructional programs and activities.

Serves as a liaison between the teacher and student and monitors attendance, behavior,

and academic progress.

Models strategies and materials that are most appropriate for achieving stated objectives.

Supervision of students in school and community settings.

Supervision of students during meal times and classroom transition times.

Attends faculty/staff meetings as requested.

Participates in staff professional development.

Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about

students.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Education:

A high school diploma required.

Certifications:

Deemed Highly Qualified by completion of Registered Behavior Technician Certification, preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience in a school setting, preferred.

Familiarity with accepted practices and procedures in working with students, to include special education needs.

Ability to demonstrate a high degree of understanding and acceptance of all children and interest in the education of students with disabilities.

Ability to follow instructions.

Ability to accept supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Terms of Employment:

10 month position. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, skills and abilities related to this position.
