Job Description

Category Schools - Behavior Specialist Job Type Contract Take on a meaningful contract role shaping student success as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Working within a supportive team, you will bring expertise in positive behavioral interventions across 3-4 assigned school sites. This is a part-time, onsite position (approximately 18 hours per week), with hours generally spanning 8:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Assignment dates run from September 8, 2026, through June 10, 2027.
Qualifications & Experience:
Licensed BCBA or Special Education Teacher with a valid tier 3 or 4 teaching license (if applying as a SpEd Teacher) Familiarity with multi-site support; ability to travel between locations as assigned Experience with functional behavior assessments, developing and implementing positive behavior support plans in school settings Strong communication and collaborative skills; comfortable working with staff, students, and administrators Skilled in crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies, and data-driven decision-making RBTs are not eligible for this role
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consultation and guidance on positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to school teams Conduct functional behavioral assessments; develop and oversee implementation of behavior intervention plans Support individualized education plans (IEPs) in alignment with district, state, and federal guidelines Deliver staff training and coaching around behavioral strategies and recommendations Ensure compliance with school policies and administrative practices Employ flexibility and calm, particularly during crises or challenging situations Maintain a safe, positive environment and assist in using restrictive procedures when necessary Handle additional duties as required by the special education director Step into a chance to profoundly impact students' educational journeys in a dynamic, collegial setting.
