Job Description

TITLE:
Autism Specialist [Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)]
CATEGORY

BCBA
JOB PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing one-on-one or small group interventions to students in the school setting. RBT will also provide support to students in the classroom setting. RBT follows intervention plans designed by student's team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The RBT's actions directly impacts client success, client perception and satisfaction of the service, and overall success of Valley Behavioral Health and it's relationship with stakeholders and the community. Adherence to the job functions listed below is essential to the success of the Behavior Therapist. Implements intervention plan as designed by BCBA Implements interventions specified in plans to teach the client skills and reduce behaviors of concern in order to increase independence and quality of life. RBT will be coached by BCBA on implementation of plan. Support teachers and team Provide instructions, model effective strategies, and provide feedback to team to increase students success. RBT is expected to build rapport with school team and support to increase success. Effectively implement evidence-based interventions Implement interventions to fidelity and will be evaluated on accurate implementation of interventions. RBT will be trained and supervised by BCBA who will coach RBT by providing written instructions, modeling, and providing RBT with feedback. Collect relevant data as instructed Accurately collect data on data sheets and in data systems as specified by treatment plan and BCBA. Data collection is a key aspect of treatment in order to determine treatment effects and necessity to change intervention. RBT is expected to accurately report occurrences of behaviors as required by BCBA and treatment plan. Effectively respond to emergency/crisis situations Commit to ensuring the safety of the client, and the proper utilization of de-escalation skills, when needed. Participates in required meetings, evaluations, supervision and trainings Attend required supervisions, trainings and meetings as directed by supervisor. Meet all regulatory standards for training and supervision. Completes all required clinical documentation Complete session notes for all sessions provided to students, as well as any additional documentation required. Maintains assigned, planned schedule Truthfully provides supervisor with availability upon hire and maintains constant communication with supervisor for any foreseen changes to schedule. RBT is available during school day and is able to maintain consistency with schedule per agreement with supervisor. Engages in professional development opportunities Continues enhancement of skills by actively participating in on-going supervision and training. Adheres to professional and ethical interaction policies and procedures Interacts professionally, ethically, and respectfully with clients and their family members, co-workers, and anyone who RBT comes in contact with throughout work. RBT will follow company policies regarding professional and ethical conduct. This includes maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with clients, using only interventions specified in treatment plans, and not recommending other treatments or providing opinion about treatments to client or caregivers. RBT will be informed of entire ethical and professional code upon hire. Maintains client confidentiality Maintains client confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES EDUCATION
Associates Degree required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, or similar human services field preferred. Credentialed as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board required within 3 months of hire. ODE Instructional Aid permit required within the first 3 months of employment.
EXPERIENCE
At least 1 year of experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred. At least 1 year of experience working with children, or adults with disabilities required.
COMPETENCIES
Must be proficient in use of electronic health record system; must be able to make sound decisions to support clients in a calm and timely manner; must be able to utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities based upon client needs, and react quickly to prevent client injury or injury to another due to client behavior; must be able to respond to crisis quickly and calmly; must be proficient in communication skills and be able to interact professionally with families on a daily basis.
BACKGROUND CLEARANCES
Must provide clearances for state and area that the RBT works within. For Ohio, RBT must obtain BCI and FBI background clearances and meet criteria to be eligible to work with children.
