Registered Behavior Technician Position Summary STEPS Institute for Child Development is looking for a full-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to add to its growing team. The RBT will provide direct, one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). RBTs implement individualized treatment plans, collect objective data, teach meaningful life skills, and support children in reaching their highest level of independence.

Work Environment Services may be provided in clinic, classroom, community, outdoor and natural environment teaching settings. This role requires standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting, and active engagement with children throughout the workday. This position can require or involve some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior. Must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds. Essential Responsibilities Provide one-on-one ABA therapy following individualized treatment plans Implement skill acquisition and behavior intervention programs Collect accurate session data and complete session notes and documentation on time Prepare client materials as directed by BCBA and in accordance with client treatment plans Build positive therapeutic relationships with children and families Collaborate with BCBAs and interdisciplinary team members Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and ethical standards Proactively communicate with supervisor/team to problem solve concerns or questions Contribute to the cleanliness and maintenance of the assigned space including organizing and cleaning to ensure a clean learning environment is maintained Complete other related tasks as assigned RBT Certification Opportunities Qualified candidates who are not yet certified may be hired as Behavior Technicians and receive support through STEPS Institute's comprehensive RBT training pathway. 40-hour RBT training provided by STEPS Institute Hands-on clinical experience under BCBA supervision Ongoing coaching and mentorship Preparation for the RBT Competency Assessment Preparation for the RBT Certification examination Continued professional development after certification Qualifications Current RBT certification is preferred but not required High school diploma or GED Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification Passion for working with children with autism and developmental disabilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to pass required background checks Reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field Previous ABA experience Experience working with children Skills & Competencies Compassion and empathy Professionalism and reliability Teamwork and collaboration Flexibility and adaptability Strong observation and problem-solving skills Willingness to learn and accept feedback Performance Expectations Be prepared for all scheduled sessions Implement treatment plans with fidelity Maintain accurate documentation Maintain a high level of supervision for clients at all times Participate in supervision and ongoing professional development Follow all STEPS Institute policies and procedures Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation starting at $19 based on education, experience, and certification Professional development opportunities Career advancement within STEPS Institute Benefits for eligible full-time employees (medical, dental, vision, paid time-off) Why Join STEPS Institute?
