TITLE:

SPECIAL EDUCATION COMPLEX BEHAVIOR FACILITATOR

JOB SUMMARY or

JOB GOAL

The Special Education Complex Behavior Facilitator is a key leader and support resource in ensuring the effective implementation of special education programs and services. This position coordinates compliance with federal, state, and district regulations, supports teachers and paraprofessionals in developing and executing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and fosters collaboration between paraprofessionals and special education staff to promote student success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

IEP Management & Compliance:

Act as certified author/case manager for all complex

LIFE/RISE

IEPs for early career teachers, ensuring legal compliance and high-quality programming.

Teacher Mentorship & Modeling:

Co-develop IEPs alongside early career staff, modeling compliant paperwork practices so teachers are confident and fully prepared to write independently.

Behavior Support Para (BSP)

Leadership and Behavioral Intervention Coaching:

Serve as lead point of contact for BSPs. Manage schedules, direct daily schedule changes, and deliver hands-on research-based behavioral intervention strategies and training.

Contracted Service Internalization:

Provide immediate, on-the-ground behavioral coaching and crisis support for designated IEP teams.

Instructional Coaching:

Provide classroom coaching to early career teachers in classroom management routines, specialized behavioral data collection, and functional data tracking.

Back-to-School Paraprofessional Training:

Design and deliver comprehensive pre-service and back-to-school professional development for all district paraprofessionals, establishing baseline standards in classroom support, behavioral interventions, research-based behavioral intervention strategies, and student safety protocols before the school year begins.

Mindset Training & Crisis Prevention:

Serve as the district's certified backup Mindset trainer, leading initial safety and de-escalation certifications for all Behavior Support Paraprofessionals (BSPs) and specialized site teams. Facilitate ongoing Mindset refresher courses throughout the school year to maintain staff compliance, build crisis-prevention capacity, and ensure consistent, safe behavioral interventions across all schools.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Special Education, or the credentials to obtain one prior to employment.

5 Years of successful experience teaching special education, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Master's Degree preferred or willingness to pursue Masters in ABA

Organizational skills, basic mathematical skills, basic computer skills, and communication skills are an essential part of this job.

Extensive knowledge of special education law, policies, and procedures.

Training or certification in behavior management and intervention strategies (e.g. Mindset, PBIS) or willingness to obtain

Proficiency with special education data systems (e.g., EdPlan)

Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record; must have reliable transportation

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to regularly lift and/or restrain students in excess of 100 pounds.

Exert up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten (10) pounds of force constantly to move objects and provide redirection.

A significant portion of each work day will be spent assisting staff who are working with students who may demonstrate physical aggression, engage in frequent outbursts, and who may be emotionally, physically, and/or mentally impaired.

Must be able to successfully complete Mindset Training, which includes being able to demonstrate and apply appropriate hold skills.

May experience constant interruptions and changes to normal routines.

Will be required to travel to more than one work site in a given workday.

Must be able to see, touch, hear, and speak: frequently required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

199 day contract, 8 hours per day SPED Facilitator Salary Schedule (incl Sped +7.5%) Yukon Pay Information
