To learn more, please visit our website: https://laurelhouseinc.org/ Position Summary The Behavior Specialist is a team member of the Individual's Interdisciplinary Team with responsibilities to collect data, develop a Behavior Plan and/or Restrictive Plan, train the Individual, Staff and families on the implementation of the Plan, review data and revise the Plan as needed but on a minimum of every six months. The Behavior Specialist is a member of the Human Rights Team. The Master's level Behavior Specialist will supervise the Bachelor's level Behavior Specialists. The Behavior Specialist position is a salaried, non-exempt position. Compliance Attends Individual Support Plan (ISP) and other interdisciplinary team meetings. Member of the Human Rights Team (HRT). Completes monthly billing documentation. Completes quarterly progress reports for each Individual. Completes other paperwork as required by the Office of Developmental Programs. Attends a minimum of 24 hours of in-service training per year. Other duties as assigned. Programming Receives and reviews referrals for Behavior Support Services. Schedules initial meeting with the Individual, team, and family to discuss the Individual's behavioral needs and areas of concern. Conducts a comprehensive functional assessment. Develops data sheets to capture frequency and duration of specified behaviors; Provides instruction to Staff and Family who are responsible for collecting the data. Develops Behavior Support/Restrictive Plans using positive strategies and least restrictive procedures. Maintains compliance with Chapter 6400, Chapter 6500, and Chapter 6100 regulations. Trains Individuals and their teams on the Behavior Plan and models different strategies specified in the Plan. Provides detailed training records to be included in Provides de-escalation and redirection training to the Individual and team members and demonstrates these techniques in weekly monitoring visits. Provides crisis intervention services and debriefing sessions with all team members after a crisis/incident. Conducts weekly visits to collect data, obtain staffs' weekly updates on the progress of the behavior plan, monitor and observe the Individual in different environments, and answer all questions and concerns. Develops a fading plan for any restrictive intervention. Other duties as necessary. Essential Functions Must be able to push/pull/lift up to 50 pounds.
