Position Purpose:

My Possibilities supports Hugely Important People (HIPsters) by providing unique educational and vocational programs as well as specialized care. ABA therapists work alongside Program Instructors, HIPster Family Services, Clinical Services, and Career Services to ensure HIPsters' functional goals and needs are addressed during educational and vocational opportunities. The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will assist with the creation and implementation of behavior change programs for HIPsters at My Possibilities. The RBT will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals, groups, and systems under the supervision of the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The Registered Behavior Technician's focus is to increase quality of life, foster independence, encourage healthy relationships, and develop and maintain positive rapport with HIPsters, while always maintaining client dignity. The RBT role is key to the success of the organization. ABA for adults with IDD incorporates several strategies that use scientific learning and behavior principles to encourage the increase of desired learning and behavior, as well as the decrease of unwanted behavior (e.g., aggression, self-injurious behavior). ABA is effective in helping individuals reach successful outcomes in many areas including communication, daily living skills, social skills, and academic skills. You are the orchestrator of developing opportunities that will enrich our HIPsters lives forever. The purpose of ABA therapy at My Possibilities is to decrease and replace maladaptive patterns of behavior to increase desired/safe behaviors and increase HIPster success.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interview staff, HIPsters, providers, and/or family members to get background and current information regarding concerning behaviors
• Develop therapeutic rapport with HIPsters and establish working relationship with all staff
• Observe, collect, and report data to help determine function, frequency, duration, severity, etc. of observed or reported aberrant behaviors
• Work with BCBA to design and implement behavior plans and to positively support HIPster engagement
• Support community integration-based learning environments using naturalistic therapeutic approaches (i.e., functional)
• Work collaboratively with all staff to make decisions in the best interest of HIPsters
• Prioritize HIPster safety and dignity in all decisions
• Respond, as needed, to de-escalate behaviors in accordance with behavior plans and My Possibilities' protocol
• Participate in incident footage reviews and family meetings, as needed
• Complete and submit detailed documentation as required
• Work with instructors to proactively identify functions of HIPster aberrant behaviors and support the implementation of instructional programs designed to teach appropriate alternative behaviors.
• Collaborate with instructional staff to create and implement lessons or environmental modifications which best support identified HIPster needs Work with individual instructors, groups of instructors and/or the entire staff on issues such as: crisis intervention, de-escalation, preventing behavioral outbursts, redirection, and other factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions Participate in behavior-focused Information Exchanges as appropriate Engage in on-going professional development to increase knowledge and skills to support all HIPsters Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job Maintains up-to-date files on all clients Writes and provides accurate and timely notes to the Therapy Billing Specialist for billing purposes

Other Duties:

Continually supervise HIPsters to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment exists where Hipsters can thrive. Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources Seeks support and information when needed Other, less common duties pertaining to programmatic activity, may include but are not limited to: Assisting HIPsters that are displaying aberrant behavior who are not on a caseload Assisting Hipsters in the restroom who have had toileting accidents Substitute teaching classes as needed

Qualifications:

High School Diploma (Bachelor's Degree preferred) RBT Certification At least (1) year experience implementing behavior support plans preferred At least (1) year experience working with individuals with special needs preferred Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and valid car insurance required First Aid, CPR, AED, HIPPA, and

SAMA/CPI

certification Possesses knowledge of industry-appropriate techniques and strategies needed to successfully support HIPsters and decrease maladaptive behaviors Demonstrates exceptional knowledge in the use of data-informed instruction and decision making Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (sign language a plus) Able to make sound decisions under pressure Some basic knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, and PowerPoint Must be able to clear a background check with no related offenses jeopardizing the integrity of our program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise graduate students as appropriate.

Working Conditions:

This position will work within a shared office settings which requires sitting, standing, walking, and working on a computer. However, this position will be required to handle behavior situations throughout the building and in the community, which may require running, lifting, bending, and crouching. Operation of office equipment will also be required such as a printer and computer/laptop. All potential employees must pass a background check and drug screen test. Pay:
