JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Purpose:
The Behavior Analyst (BA) develops individualized ABA treatment programs for each assigned child based on behavioral assessment and individualized data and family input. The BA conducts the initial implementation of the programs; reviews data frequently, modifies programs as necessary to get maximum progress, and monitors treatment integrity. The BA provides direct one on one and small group training using ABA procedures for children with a diagnosis of autism and/or intellectual disability who display aggressive, disruptive, non-compliant, and/or self-abusive behavior.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities and Duties Daily monitoring and training of self-contained teachers providing services to students with autism spectrum disorders. Training consists of skill acquisition for self-help skills, academic skills, social skills, communication skills, vocational skills, and basic attending skills. The BA ensures standardized preference assessments, functional analyses, and skill assessments are conducted in a timely manner. The BA conducts direct observations, collects data, summarizes data, and documents training progress. The behavior analyst provides initial and ongoing staff training. The BA can be observed by parents, teachers, and other staff when working directly with a student. The BA implements SAMA and physical prompts. Responsible to keep up with the literature of ABA and autism treatment. Supervises Behavior Technicians implementing ABA services while protecting student's rights, dignity and privacy. Monitor the effectiveness of treatment interventions utilizing behavior analytic techniques for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Train each staff member on their client's specific behavior treatment plan before services begin. Continuously track data in weekly progress notes in the form of charts, graphs, etc. to ensure treatment is effective. Revise treatment and teaching procedures as needed Develop child-specific behavior plan in accordance with the principles of ABA. Monitor and adjust behavior plan throughout treatment period in accordance with the child's progression. Implement new and remove old programs once mastery criterion is achieved. Submit and/or monitor weekly progress notes for each client with what was covered during supervision, progress on goals, and behavior graphing. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) Assist in developing corporate structure and in the creation of policies and procedures. Participate in weekly small group meetings and/or monthly large group meetings Develop and take on projects to improve programming for students with ASD Develop quality initiatives that will improve referrals measured by number of repeat referrals and subjective survey methods. General help to manage office staff for maximum efficiency Maintain knowledge of different programs and certifications. Attendance at work is an essential function. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Experience A minimum of three years working with children with autism spectrum disorders
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Certification:
Master's degree in education, psychology, or behavior analysis Graduate level university courses in applied behavior analysis topics Prior ABA training required Behavior Analysis Certification by the
Behavior Analysis Certification Board Special Knowledge/Skills:
Work positively and favorably with staff, students and parents Demonstrate compassion, responsibility, and cheerful attitude Excellent communication skills, analytical and observation skills Knowledge of crisis management preferred Handle confidential information discretely and professionally Ability to interpret and remain current on all federal, state, and local mandates for special education
