  • Part-Time (Flexible Schedule) Chileda Shine Community Services has the perfect opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience this summer supporting neurodiverse children and their families!
Join us as a Part-Time Behavior Technician to help us elevate the quality of life for children with cognitive and behavioral challenges, all while developing your skills. Position Overview Our innovative program focuses on providing support to children in-home, in the community, at the Chileda Shine center, or in school. You'll work directly with kids, teaching essential life skills, activities of daily living (ADLs), social interactions, and communication strategies. As you implement individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP), you'll play a crucial part in addressing problem behaviors and fostering skill acquisition tailored to each child's unique needs. This role is hands-on and rewarding-ideal for individuals interested in education, psychology, social work, OT, behavioral health, or other healthcare fields. What a Typical Shift Looks Like Want to know what a shift really involves? Here's an example of how your day might flow: You arrive at the Shine center and, if needed, use a Chileda van to pick up the client from their home. During transport, you build rapport by talking with the client or playing preferred music. At Shine, you support the client with dropping off belongings, reviewing their visual schedule, and transitioning into the first activity. Throughout the session, you collect real-time behavior data using a phone or Shine iPad. Clients participate in a combination of group activities and individual skill development, such as daily living skills or AAC use. Activities rotate approximately every 30 minutes and may include community outings. After the 3.5-hour session, you transport the client home if needed and return the Shine van. You finish the shift by completing session notes and debriefing with fellow Behavior Technicians. Every day is structured-but never boring-and you'll leave knowing you made an impact. Required Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent Must be at least 18 years of age Strong communication and time-management skills Ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships Valid driver's license, insured vehicle, and ability to travel throughout La Crosse and surrounding counties Bonus Experience Experience working with neurodivergent individuals preferred Experience working independently in home or school settings preferred Hours of Duty Flexible schedule, Monday through Friday with some weekends. Summer hours are between 8:00am and 5:00pm and vary based on family needs. School year hours are between 3:00pm and 8:00pm and are based on family needs. Our Mission Chileda's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavioral challenges. Chileda Shine Community Services is an innovative program providing community-based, in-home, in-school, and center-based supports using evidence-based practices. Our goal is to help children, adults, and families build meaningful, functional skills that generalize across environments and last a lifetime. Next Steps If you're compassionate, innovative, and eager to contribute positively to children's lives, and if you can meet the requirements above, we encourage you to apply!
