Non-Exempt Report to: Omega Division Service Manager Direct reports: 0 Position Summary Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) is responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing basic biomedical equipment to ensure patient safety and operational efficiency in a healthcare setting. This role is ideal for recent graduates or those who have a bit more experience and are looking for a job that allows them to learn and grow in the biomedical field. Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance, safety checks, and functional testing on a wide range of biomedical equipment. Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing medical devices and systems. Document all work performed in compliance with regulatory standards and hospital/facility policies. Follow OSHA guidelines and adhere to all safety, infection control, and compliance guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work areas. Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies. Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives. Ability to communicate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) & have a basic understanding of manufacturer standards & various equipment. Responsible for accurate reporting and documentation of all equipment services and inspections using Flagship's proprietary Field Service Technology. A Successful Candidate would demonstrate the following: Candidates should have a strong background in mechanical repairs, motors, motor controls, programmable logic controller (PLCs) and electrical troubleshooting control systems. Has a general understanding of safety and regulatory guidelines and standards, such as NFPA, AAMI, CDC, Medicare/Medicaid, etc. Demonstrates the ability to solve basic frontline customer service issues without assistance from supervisor. Demonstrates the ability to make recommendations on equipment, parts, and maintenance best practices to the customer. Process-oriented/business improvement mindset. Ability to lead self and others. High attention to detail. Ability to work in fast paced medical environments. Qualifications Associate degree (achieved or in progress) in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field/ equivalent military training. Basic knowledge of electronics, medical equipment, and troubleshooting techniques. Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety. Must hold a current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license. Must have a safe driving record. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read and follow instructions. Previous experience in a healthcare or surgical setting is an asset. Knowledge of infection control standards and sterilization techniques. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships that represent our organization in a professional manner. Effective communication and customer service skills. Ability to document repair actions, and submit reports on schedule. Well organized with excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Fast learner who is comfortable working independently that also has experience working in a team to deliver a solution-based service to customers. Willing to work flexible hours and travel periodically to support business needs. Able to lift and/or push up to 80 pounds. Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and working in confined spaces. Able to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods of time. Familiarity with Joint Commission (TJC), NFPA, or FDA regulatory standards is preferred. An applicant with a Washington State 07 Specialty electrical license is preferred. Physical Requirements In this job you will travel to customer facilities to perform industrial equipment maintenance technician services. At these locations you may be exposed to bodily fluids, chemicals, and high-temperature equipment. This job requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). You will be required to contort in small spaces and be able to move or lift equipment that weighs up to 80 lbs. The work often takes place in fast-paced hospital or surgical center environments.
