Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The Hemodynamic Technologist is responsible for providing surgical assistance in a safe, appropriate and effective manner under the direction of a Registered Nurse/MD, in compliance with the standards of practice. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to provision of availability/maintenance of equipment, adherence to aseptic technique, advanced knowledge of anesthesia procedures and support to patient flow within department. Provides support and communicates directly with surgical team and supervisory staff. The Hemodynamic Technologist must use effective oral communication and participate in aspects of documentation. In addition, the Hemodynamic Technologist collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job 1. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform all aspects of hemodynamic setups, monitoring, and interpretation. 2. Serves as a role model and assists new staff members. 5. Serves as a preceptor for new employees. 6. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. 7. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees. 8. Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations. 9. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion. 10. Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies. 11. Demonstrates continual development of clinical expertise and current knowledge of healthcare trends and education related to performance. 12. Ability to be at work and be on time. 13. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives. 14. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner. 15. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience:
Three years hemodynamic tech or Respiratory Therapist experience required Completion of Hemodynamic program or Respiratory program required Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred Proficient in medical terminology
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Registered Respiratory Therapist/RT Licensure required or Certified Anesthesia Technologist designated by the American Society of Anesthesia (ASATT) required Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Card Required
