Qualifications BLS Certification Sonography Full Job Description Job Summary:

The Sonographer 1-Echocardiography is a licensed sonographer working under the direct supervision of a credentialed staff Sonographer Echocardiography or Cardiologist. Performs designated direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate qualify patient-centered care. Prepares the patients, equipment, and supplies prior to exams. Performs the requested cardiac echocardiography examinations as prescribed in protocol. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in safe patient care and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience:

Successful completion of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited cardiac ultrasound program. One year of direct echocardiography experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, fax, software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to communicate in English, relate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English, in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math function; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail. Uses independent judgment and initiative. Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications:

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in appropriate sub-specialty of department placement (adult echocardiology or pediatric echocardiology) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) credentialing board in appropriate sub-specialty of department placement (adult echocardiology or pediatric echocardiology) required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
