Cath Lab Cardiovascular Technologist
Job Description
UF Health in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Cath Lab Cardiovascular Technologist to support interventional cardiology procedures within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will prepare and position patients, operate imaging and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, scrub and assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, and ensure accurate documentation. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, uphold strict safety and infection-control standards, and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered care in an academic, research-driven environment that promotes continuous learning and professional growth. Responsibilities Prepare, position, and monitor patients for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures Operate imaging and hemodynamic monitoring equipment during cath lab procedures Scrub, circulate, and assist cardiologists with catheterizations and interventional cases Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, radiation safety, and infection-control protocols Document procedures, patient data, and device usage accurately in the medical record Collaborate with nurses, physicians, anesthesiology, and other team members to deliver coordinated care Assist in inventory control, equipment setup, and routine maintenance checks Participate in on-call rotations as required to support urgent and emergent procedures Support patient and family education regarding procedures and post-procedure expectations Engage in ongoing education, skills development, and quality improvement initiatives Required Skills Cardiac catheterization procedures Interventional cardiology procedure support (PCI, stents, etc.) Fluoroscopic imaging operation Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation Sterile technique and scrub-assist skills Radiation safety and dose minimization Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation Invasive line management (arterial/venous sheaths) Electronic medical record documentation Emergency response in cath lab setting (e.g., code situations)
