Job Description

UF Health in Gainesville seeks a CVT Surgical Technologist to support complex cardiovascular and thoracic procedures in a high-acuity academic medical center. In this role, you will prepare and maintain a sterile operating room, set up and manage specialized CVT instruments and equipment, and anticipate the needs of surgeons during procedures such as CABG, valve repair, and vascular interventions. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, uphold strict infection-control standards, and help ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures Set up, count, and manage specialized CVT surgical instruments and supplies Assist surgeons intraoperatively by anticipating needs and passing instruments Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment used in CVT procedures Ensure strict adherence to infection-control and patient safety protocols Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to coordinate patient care Participate in preoperative verification and postoperative room turnover Document required perioperative information in electronic systems Support continuous quality improvement and compliance with UF Health standards Engage in ongoing training and education to maintain competencies in CVT surgery Required Skills Sterile technique Cardiovascular surgical procedures Operating room setup Surgical instrumentation Intraoperative assistance Patient positioning and draping Equipment troubleshooting Infection control Electronic health record documentation CPR/BLS
