Certified Cardiographic Technician for PSL/Stuart offices

Non-Exempt Position Summary :

The Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) performs non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic procedures to assist physicians and advanced practice providers in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The CCT is responsible for conducting cardiovascular testing, monitoring patient responses, ensuring patient safety, maintaining accurate documentation, and delivering exceptional patient care in an outpatient and/or ambulatory setting. Essential Functions Cardiovascular Diagnostic Testing Perform non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic procedures including 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs), ambulatory cardiac monitoring, Holter monitor placement and retrieval, event monitor application, mobile cardiac telemetry setup, and related diagnostic testing. Prepare patients for cardiovascular diagnostic procedures by reviewing orders, verifying patient information, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient comfort. Obtain accurate and high-quality diagnostic recordings in accordance with established protocols and departmental standards. Monitor patients during diagnostic testing and identify potential abnormalities requiring immediate attention. Troubleshoot technical issues related to diagnostic equipment and monitoring devices. Patient Care & Education Educate patients on diagnostic procedures, monitoring devices, testing expectations, and follow-up instructions. Ensure patient safety, privacy, and comfort throughout the testing process. Respond appropriately to patient concerns, symptoms, and clinical changes during testing. Escalate urgent findings or patient concerns to appropriate clinical staff or providers. Documentation & Data Management Accurately document patient information, testing procedures, and diagnostic data within the electronic medical record. Ensure test results are properly processed, transmitted, and routed according to departmental procedures. Maintain patient records in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Verify completeness and quality of diagnostic studies prior to submission for physician interpretation. Equipment & Quality Assurance Maintain diagnostic equipment and monitoring devices to ensure operational readiness. Perform routine equipment checks and report malfunctions or repair needs. Adhere to quality assurance standards and participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, infection prevention protocols, and safety requirements. Team Collaboration Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, exercise physiologists, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals to support efficient patient care delivery. Assist with patient scheduling, workflow coordination, and departmental operations as needed. Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and continuing education activities. Support other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required

• High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred
• Associate degree in cardiovascular technology, allied health, or related field. Experience Required
• One (1) year of experience in cardiovascular diagnostics, cardiology, ambulatory care, or related healthcare setting. Preferred
• Experience performing ECGs, ambulatory monitoring, and cardiovascular diagnostic procedures.
• Experience in an outpatient cardiology or cardiovascular diagnostic environment. Certifications Required
• Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or ability to obtain within established timeframe.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Knowledge & Skills
• Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and common cardiac conditions.
• Knowledge of electrocardiography principles and cardiovascular diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms and critical findings requiring escalation.
• Knowledge of ambulatory cardiac monitoring systems and associated workflows.
• Strong patient service and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and cardiovascular diagnostic software systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration with clinical teams.

Physical Demands and Work Environment :

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as necessary to perform diagnostic testing and patient care activities.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to apply electrodes, monitoring devices, and operate diagnostic equipment.
• Visual acuity sufficient to review ECG tracings, diagnostic data, and electronic documentation.
• Auditory ability sufficient to communicate effectively with patients and team members and respond to alarms and equipment notifications.
• Ability to assist patients with positioning and mobility as needed.
• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Work Environment
• Primarily works in outpatient cardiovascular clinics, diagnostic testing areas, and ambulatory care settings.
• Frequent interaction with patients experiencing cardiovascular symptoms or chronic cardiac conditions.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and healthcare-related environmental hazards.
• Requires adherence to infection prevention, safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
• May occasionally travel between clinic locations based on operational needs.
