Job Description
Position Summary Under general supervision, performs specified duties on an assigned nursing in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Utilizes handoff communication at shift change. Monitors cardiac rhythms, documents rhythms hourly and heart rate. Runs rhythm strip at the beginning of every shift & analyzes rhythm. Reports changes in the cardiac rhythm immediately to the nurses caring for the patient. Runs strip of rhythm changes for nurses to analyze and document. Updates providers daily as needed regarding patient events in the last 24 hours. Maintains and cleans cardiac monitoring equipment. Informs Biomed when there is equipment malfunction. Discusses equipment malfunctions with nurse manager. Verifies stock of needed supplies for cardiac monitoring, i.e. lead wires and batteries. Inspects each pack for any damage after each patient use. Assists patients, families and visitors with various needs to enhance customer service. Participates in staff development and orientation of new staff. Attends and participates in 50% of department unit meetings. Completes required rhythm strips and annual test. Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Completion of basic EKG class with grade of at least 80% within 90 days of hire. Mandatory Reporter training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.

Highschool diploma orGED Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and communicate oral and written English. Ability to make decisions quickly and appropriately when under stressful conditions.Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
