Job Description
Cardiac Stress Testing Technician Heart Care Centers of Illinois, a multi-site network of cardiovascular providers located in the South and Southwest Suburbs of Chicago , has an immediate opening for an outstanding Cardiac Stress Testing Technician. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the provision, quality, patient safety, maintenance, and medical records regarding stress testing procedures including routine treadmill exercise tests, nuclear medicine treadmill, adenosine and dobutamine stress testing, and assisting with stress echocardiography. Performs studies taking into account individual patient's special physical or age-related needs. Specific duties to include, but not limited to: Completes comprehensive patient history and chart review in preparation for stress testing. Prepares patients for stress testing. Applies EKG electrodes, prepares stress testing equipment, performs preliminary control procedures. Starts IV or assists nuclear medicine technician and/or nursing staff to establish intravenous access for patients undergoing stress testing. Monitors patient EKG, blood pressure and symptoms during stress testing. Works independently to complete stress testing when appropriate. Seeks assistance/supervision when necessary. Interacts with nursing staff and physicians to provide safe, appropriate stress testing. Recognizes and is able to react to adverse patient events encountered with stress testing. Is able to initiate CPR and/or ACLS. Performs resting EKG's as requested.
Assists in attaining appropriate insurance pre-authorizations for testing as required. Maintains testing equipment and procedure rooms in neat and orderly fashion. Assists with supply ordering and stocking of procedure rooms. Requirements At least 1 year of work related experience/Advanced EKG interpretation skills I.V. start experience preferred but not necessary Knowledge and experience with cardiology setting. Familiar with cardiac disease processes, terminology and medications ACLS and BLS certification Ability to work independently Must have valid IL Driver's License and reliable vehicle as travel to all HCCI clinics may be required Heart Care Centers of Illinois offers a competitive salary with great benefits and a weekday only/no evenings schedule.
