Location BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital Title Cardiovascular Special Procedure Tech, Full-Time, Variable Hours, Bronson Methodist Hospital Assists the physician in the performance of all cardiovascular related procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CVSL); operates all equipment, both radiographic and cardiovascular; scrubs for interventional cases; scrubs and circulates for all diagnostic cases. Records cases. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. An Associates degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and registered ARRT or graduate of an associate or baccalaureate academic program in health science and obtain Certification as Registered Cardiology Invasive Specialist (RCIS) required within 2 years of hire. Training in Cardiac Invasive Technology, assisting in diagnostic and interventional procedures and/or 1 year of cardiac clinical training and experience in the hospital or elsewhere preferred. Registration and in good standing for the State of Michigan license in the appropriate discipline. BLS certification within six months of hire. ACLS certification required within 1 year of job training.- Must demonstrate excellent human relation skills to deal with patients, physicians and others in sometimes difficult or sensitive situations, including verbal and written communication, problem solving and assertiveness
- Must have customer service orientation
- Must be able to work and communicate with all employees, physicians, and customers.
- Must be able to work well within a small work group which includes communicating effectively with team members, assertively handling conflict, diplomatically resolving issues and participating in problem-solving
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude and treat everyone in a professional manner
- Basic PC computer skills to operate the database and office programs used in the department; can be acquired after hire.
- Prepares and calibrates equipment for procedure to be performed
- Responsible for assisting the physician with invasive cardiology procedures, such as diagnostic and interventional (PTCA, stent) heart catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, intra-aortic balloon pump insertion, pacemaker and ICD insertion, etc.
- Completely and accurately documents procedures; enters and records pertinent laboratory values, pressure waveforms and ECGs physical assessments and other pertinent information into logs and the computer and processes related paperwork
- Manages images for review by the physician and for the permanent record
- Operate and maintains all equipment and instruments properly and with care and performs maintenance and quality control work as appropriate. Troubleshoots the equipment as able and immediately reports any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Maintains instruments and equipment in a clean and functional condition. Performs minor repairs, calibrations, and adjustments on equipment. Brings to the attention of supervisor the need for special service or maintenance
- Keeps current in professional knowledge of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular technology
- Additional on call requirements above and beyond regular scheduled hours. Weekends and Holidays also required
