Full Job Description Job Description:
The Echocardiography Technician performs echocardiography examinations for subsequent evaluation and interpretation by a physician. Assists in the coordination of the scheduling of tests and procedures in the non-invasive areas. Operates the Diagnostic ECG/Echocardiography equipment; Performs studies to include: Echocardiograms 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, contrast, stress echo, and transesophageal. Provides care to patients of varying ages and age-related needs.
Required Skills:
Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of patient information. Knowledgeable with Infection Control Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for healthcare professional Ability to wear personal protective equipment (face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed. Must be mature and responsible, able to use initiative and independent judgment when necessary, and capable of working without supervision within guidelines established by the supervisor. Thorough knowledge of all phases of Echocardiography, EKG, and other special cardiac diagnostic equipment. Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of an Echocardiography Technician. Knowledge of ultrasound techniques should be thorough. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledgeable of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to work effectively within role and with other team members. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to understand medical/surgical Terminology Ability to perform basic computer keyboard skills. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Required Experience:
Work Experience One year of experience as Echocardiography Tech preferred. License/Registration/Certification RDCS or RCS registry through ARDMS, or RCI registry through CCI preferred. Current CPR required. Education and Training High School diploma or equivalent Completion of an electrocardiography course or Associates of Applied Science in Diagnostic Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology or Ultrasound required.
