Job Summary Uses a combination of cardiopulmonary and vascular diagnostic equipment, quantitative and qualitative criteria and communication skills to perform clinical cardiopulmonary and vascular diagnostic testing. Performs echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, non-invasive vascular testing and cardiac and pulmonary stress testing. Plan and organize patient testing sessions in such a manner that patients flow through the diagnostic lab is optimized without compromising test quality. Provide support and backup assistance as needed for the following procedures: pulmonary function testing, EKG and ZIO monitor application. Demonstrates advocacy in adopting JCAHO standards into daily practice. Other duties as assigned. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks Echocardiograms Stress Echocardiograms Non-Invasive Vascular Testing Stress Testing Basic Pulmonary Function Testing EKG ZIO Monitor Placement Required Education/Experience High School graduate or equivalent. Allied Health degree in Cardiac Ultrasound experience performing Echocardiography studies preferred Echo Registry eligible per ICAEL standards CPR Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred Minimum of 1 year of patient care experience Minimum of 1 year of experience performing Echocardiography studies Required Licenses/Certifications ARDMS or CCI or Registry-Eligible Registered Echocardiography Technologist Registry in Adult Cardiac Ultrasound Registry in Vascular Ultrasound preferred Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Knowledge and ability to operate equipment and perform ultrasound procedures Good leadership qualities Knowledge with a variety of echo equipment Ability to adapt to changing situations Must possess excellent customer service skills Good organizational and follow-through skills Ability to multitask constantly and tolerate interruptions Must be able to communicate with patients and staff, and have good organizational, technical, and planning skills Must be able to handle stressful situations and make accurate decisions About The University of Texas at Tyler and UT Tyler Health Science Center The University of Texas at Tyler is part of the prestigious University of Texas System that includes 14 institutions located throughout the state.
