Job Summary Performs radiographic and invasive cardiac procedures in the area of Special Procedures under the direction of a physician, utilizing ionizing radiation and other diagnostic methods and assisting physician as required. Also responsible for monitoring, circulating and processing all documentation. The Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) assists physicians and clinical staff during invasive cardiovascular procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Under the supervision of the physician, this position supports patient care, operates specialized imaging and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, maintains a sterile procedural environment, and contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of interventional cardiovascular services. Responsibilities Always stays until procedures are completed and cleaned up. Consistently demonstrates proficiency/accuracy in performing all techniques and examines. Always utilizes proper technique for holding pressure. Demonstrates the ability to perform work in an accurate manner in emergency situations. Demonstrates general knowledge of vascular anatomy. Anticipates needs of the Radiologists/Cardiologist and prepares accordingly. Consistently meets needs of physician, as per feedback. Is well-organized, as exemplified by always presenting a neat tray. Assists in training of new technologists. Performs on-call responsibilities. Core Duties Assist physicians during invasive cardiovascular procedures, including but not limited to coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), peripheral vascular interventions, structural heart procedures and electrophysiology procedures. Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, supplies, and sterile fields prior to cases. Operate and monitor hemodynamic recording systems and related cardiovascular equipment. Assist with patient preparation, positioning, monitoring, and transport. Circulate during procedures handing off equipment while maintaining sterile techniques and compliance with infection prevention and safety standards. Recognize and promptly communicate changes in patient condition to the team. Assist with inventory management, stocking, and maintenance of procedural supplies Participate in emergency response activities within the catheterization laboratory. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment. Maintain patient confidentiality and provide compassionate, patient-centered care. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1-2 years in patient care experience preferred. Working Conditions Ability to stand for extended periods while wearing lead protective equipment. Ability to assist with patient transfers and positioning. Ability to lift, push, and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.
