Part-Time Echo Lab Assistant Cardiovascular Technology Program Laurel Institutes is seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Echo Lab Assistant to support hands-on learning in the Echocardiography (Echo) Scanning Lab within our Cardiovascular Technology program. This position is ideal for an experienced cardiovascular professional or sonographer who enjoys working with students and helping them develop the practical scanning skills needed for a career in cardiovascular technology.

8:00 AM - 2:30

PM Friday:

8:00 AM - 4:30 PM General Summary The Echo Lab Assistant will support faculty and students during laboratory and scanning sessions. The position will help maintain an effective, professional learning environment while assisting students with hands-on echocardiography scanning techniques, equipment use, positioning, image acquisition, and laboratory activities. The Lab Assistant will work closely with cardiovascular technology faculty to reinforce classroom instruction and help students develop competency in the practical skills required in the field. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist faculty during Echo scanning laboratory sessions. Support students as they practice echocardiography scanning techniques and procedures. Demonstrate proper patient positioning, transducer placement, scanning techniques, and equipment operation as directed by faculty. Assist students with obtaining quality diagnostic images and understanding basic image optimization. Provide guidance and constructive feedback to students during hands-on laboratory activities. Help prepare the scanning lab, equipment, and supplies before laboratory sessions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Follow all applicable safety, infection-control, and patient-care procedures. Assist with student practice activities, competency development, and laboratory check-offs as directed by faculty. Communicate student questions or concerns to the appropriate faculty member or Program Director. Handle laboratory equipment appropriately and report equipment concerns or malfunctions. Serve as a positive professional role model for students. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and patients/models. Support the goals and mission of Laurel Institutes. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in echocardiography, cardiovascular technology, diagnostic medical sonography, or a closely related field preferred. ARDMS and/or CCI credentials in Adult Echocardiography (AE), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), or a related cardiovascular specialty preferred. Minimum of three years of recent experience as a registered sonographer or cardiovascular professional preferred. Strong knowledge of echocardiography scanning techniques and cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Previous experience working with or training students is preferred. Current Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certification preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. Ability to provide patient, professional, and constructive instruction. Must maintain professional competence and remain current in the cardiovascular technology field. Degree or credential must be from an appropriately accredited institution when applicable. Preferred Skills Experience in an educational or clinical laboratory setting. Experience with hands-on student instruction. Familiarity with current echocardiography equipment and technology. Ability to demonstrate effective scanning techniques. Canvas or other learning management system experience is a plus.
