Job Description

Detox Technician —
Christopher Care Location:
Mission Viejo, CA (In Person)
Job Type:
Full-Time / Part-Time available
Pay:
$19.00-$23.00 per hour (based on experience/certification)

Program Director About Christopher Care Christopher Care is a 6-bed detox (DTX) and residential treatment (RTC) facility in Mission Viejo providing individualized, medically-supported detox and residential care to clients recovering from substance use disorders. We're a small, close-knit clinical team where every technician plays a direct role in client safety and quality of care. Position Overview We're hiring Detox Technicians to support our clients through withdrawal management and residential stabilization. This is a hands-on, floor-based role covering AM (7:00 AM-3:30 PM), PM (3:00 PM-11:30 PM), and NOC (11:00 PM-7:30 AM) shifts. Technicians are the front-line eyes and ears of the facility, responsible for client monitoring, vitals, safety checks, and maintaining a therapeutic, structured environment. Key Responsibilities Client Monitoring & Safety Conduct routine vitals checks and document withdrawal symptoms per facility protocol (e.g., CIWA/COWS as applicable) Perform regular room checks and line-of-sight monitoring per level of care Immediately report changes in client condition to nursing/medical staff Respond to emergencies and support crisis intervention as trained Documentation Accurately document shift notes, vitals, and observations in the EMR (KIPU) in real time Maintain client confidentiality per 42 CFR Part 2 / HIPAA Complete shift handoff logs and incident reports as needed Milieu & Daily Operations Support house structure — wake-ups, meals, group attendance, sleep checks Complete intake/admission tasks (orientation, room setup, belongings check) alongside the admissions team Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment Support transportation coordination for appointments/groups as needed Team Coordination Communicate clearly during shift handoff (AM/PM/NOC) Work closely with nursing, clinical, and case management staff Escalate any safety, medical, or behavioral concerns promptly Required Qualifications CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start) TB clearance completed within required timeframe (and maintained annually) Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights/weekends Strong attention to detail and reliability — this is a life-safety role Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality Basic computer proficiency for EMR documentation Preferred Qualifications RADT (Registered Alcohol/Drug Technician) certification or active enrollment in an AOD certification program Prior experience in a detox, residential, or behavioral health setting Familiarity with EMR systems such as
