Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterans Affairs Coordinator to join our private dental practice. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary liaison for military veterans, ensuring they receive the appropriate benefits, support, and guidance related to their healthcare and administrative needs. Your expertise will help streamline processes, enhance patient experience, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our veteran community while working in a dynamic, patient-focused environment. Duties Coordinate with veterans to verify eligibility for dental services and benefits, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate Manage and process VA community care referrals and authorizations through the VA Community Care Network (CCN). Schedule veteran patients and coordinate their treatment plans according to VA guidelines. Submit required dental charts, treatment plans, and X-rays to the VA for pre-authorization and approval. Handle specialized VA billing, claims submission, and follow up on delayed or unpaid claims. Act as the primary point of contact for veteran patients, explaining their covered benefits and guiding them through their appointments. Build and maintain a positive working relationship with local VA clinics and regional third-party administrators (like Optum or TriWest). Qualifications At least 1-2 years of experience handling VA dental benefits, community care referrals, or medical/dental billing. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, CPT/CDT coding, and general insurance billing. Deep familiarity with VA authorization portals and the VA Community Care Network rules. Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a patient and respectful attitude toward veterans. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to track strict authorization deadlines. Experience with dental practice management software Dentrix, is preferred.
