$19.99/hour (Compensation based on skills and experience) Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center (HICHC) is seeking a Referrals Specialist to join our team! The Referrals Specialist plays an important role in ensuring patients receive timely access to specialty care and services. This position coordinates referrals, insurance authorizations, medical records, and follow-up care while working closely with providers, patients, and external healthcare partners. Key Responsibilities Coordinate patient referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments. Maintain accurate electronic medical records and referral tracking systems. Communicate with providers, patients, and outside healthcare organizations to support patient care. Assist with travel authorizations and arrangements for eligible patients. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies. Provide excellent customer service and support to patients and families. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with the patient care team. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum one year of related clinical office experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Experience with QUEST, health insurance programs, Hawaiʻi healthcare networks, andICD-10/CPT
