Job Description

Provides safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective patient care as delegated. Responsible for the safety of patients Successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements Safeguards confidential information Follows safety rules in all areas of patient care and ensures a safe patient environment Demonstrates proficiency in use/application of all equipment Responsible for the provision of delegated patient care services Ensures ADLs and patient care assignments are performed as scheduled and communicates this to attending therapist Performs technical skill per standard Completes job duties within established schedule 95% of time Communicates and collaborates with patient/family and health care team to plan care Answers patient bells, lights, or other verbal/nonverbal communication promptly and provides emotional/physical support and/or communicates ne-eds to health care provider Maintains supplies/equipment of the assigned area Ensures all patient care equipment is in proper working order Obtains and delivers equipment, paperwork, and supplies in a timely manner Maintains adequate supplies for patient care; performs kitchen inventory weekly and maintains/orders replacement items as indicated Assures accurate completion of all non clinical paperwork; including tech sheets, patient schedules/grids/logs, and patient communication sheets Demonstrates accountability as a member of the Care Team in meeting business goals, clinical/quality outcomes and customer satisfaction Serves as a role model by demonstrating positive team based behavior Regular and timely attendance is required for this position Participates in PI process , including planning/operational changes and progresses toward meeting team and individual PI goal Ensures that scheduled patient care, including frequency/duration and service intensity are met at least 90% of time, with all missed sessions/minutes communicated directly to attending therapist Demonstrates flexibility in meeting changing departmental needs in response to business, clinical staffing or regulatory conditions Alters daily work habits/patterns/methods to meet changing departmental requirements/needs Provides assistance to team members as requested or assigned Contributes to the daily operation of the division/department by completing special duties/projects and performing other roles as assigned

Education Requirements:
Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

College courses

License and Certification Requirements:

CAN, EMT, or CMA Experience Requirements:
Preferred:

1 year as a nursing assistant, therapy technician, or similar experience

Knowledge:

Within the first 90 days of hire demonstrate knowledge of procedures and techniques in administering and providing basic and advanced patient care services Knowledge of supplies used in patient care/therapy treatment Basic understanding of computer operations, medical terminology, keyboarding, modality application and whirlpool application

Skills:

Oral and written communication skills Good understanding of asepsis and sterile techniques

Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

Work Environment:

Exposure to chemicals which may be used in patient care.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift, push, pull, and position patients and equipment. Visual acuity and manual dexterity. Long hours without a break may be required.
