Direct experience opportunities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Shadow Care Coordinator on visits with patients including home visits, phone contracts, ER visits, inpatient mental health visits, inpatient substance use visits, incarceration visits
  • Assist with contacting clients currently in outreach to schedule appointments for intakes
  • Explain qualifications of program and services offered to patients
  • Assist Care Coordinators in linkage and referral process
  • Attend community meetings with Care Managers
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed
Eligibility Requirements:
Current enrollment in an Associates or Bachelors Level program for Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health or Substance Abuse Counseling, or other related Health and Human Services field required . You are not eligible if you have already graduated from a degree program or if you are not enrolled in the programs listed above. This internship experience must also be a requirement of your degree in order to participate, as it is unpaid and for school credit hours only.

Location Information:
This internship is located at 1000 Young Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150.
Schedule Information:
Our internship supervisors strive to offer flexible schedules; however, placements are currently available Monday through Friday. During the application, you'll be asked to provide your full availability so we can make the best possible match. This internship is for the Spring 2027 with a start date in January 2027 until May 2027. Applications will close on October 2nd, 2026. Placements will be confirmed by November 6th, 2026.
