•Friday; schedule and work location flexibility required based on program needs) Position Overview The Clinical Assessment Specialist (CAS) at the Centralized Assessment and Screening Team (CAST) operates at the intersection of clinical insight and the criminal justice system. Serving justice-involved individuals placed on community supervision, the CAS conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations, substance use assessments, and criminogenic risk profiles using the Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS). This position prepares detailed assessment reports and recommendations to guide judicial decision-making, supervision pathways, and intervention placements for Courts and HCCSCD personnel.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical Assessment & Diagnostic Evaluations:

Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, clinical client interviews, and collateral record reviews to assess mental health, substance use, and dual-diagnosis issues.

TRAS Criminogenic Risk Profiling:

Utilize the Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) to accurately evaluate criminogenic risk, individual needs, and responsivity factors for criminal justice-involved clients.

Judicial & Administrative Reporting:

Formulate and write detailed, comprehensive clinical assessment reports summarizing findings and recommended intervention/supervision levels to inform Court and HCCSCD placement decisions.

Clinical Supervision (As Needed): Provide formal clinical supervision for Licensed Psychological Associates and Licensed Professional Counselor-Associates as required. (

Note:

Providing clinical supervision mandates that the specialist remain in the position for an equivalent duration).

Inter-Agency Collaboration:

Partner with judicial authorities, court officers, and supervisory teams to establish foundation plans for client rehabilitation and community supervision success.

Educational Mandate:

Masters or Doctorate degree in Psychology or Counseling from an accredited university.

Mandatory Professional Licensure:
Active Texas license as a:

Licensed Psychologist

Licensed Psychologist with Provisional Status

Licensed Psychological Associate

Licensed Psychological Associate with Independent Practice

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-A)

Required Certification:

Must achieve and maintain Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) certification within the first two attempts following hire (failure to certify within two attempts may result in termination).

Clinical Knowledge & Competencies:

Demonstrated competency in clinical assessment, differential diagnosis, current treatment modalities, and the

DSM-5-TR.

High proficiency in technical clinical report writing with precise grammar and spelling.

Identification/Driver's License:

Valid Texas Class C Driver's License or current Texas Identification Card.

Background Requirements:
