Job Description

The CareLink Quality Compliance Paramedic conducts quality assurance reviews of CareLink transport charts (ePCRs) and Epic medical necessity documentation to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and appropriate medical necessity, without providing direct patient care. This role collaborates with transport clinicians and departmental leaders to resolve documentation issues, and escalates concerns to medical and operational leadership as needed. The position supports accurate clinical documentation, billing integrity, and compliance with governmental and regulatory standards across CareLink services. Essential Job Function Conducts initial CareLink chart reviews/QA within 48 hours of transport to ensure complete and appropriate care documentation following CareLink treatment protocols. Follows up on unresolved QA flags for timely review and resolution. Refers appropriate cases to the CareLink Medical Director promptly and communicates with CareLink department leadership as well. Reviews the EMSights Portal each shift for any documentation needs from ambulance billing company to assign charges and resolves needs promptly. Addresses issues promptly with the CareLink and/or healthcare team and educates them on payer requirements and regulatory compliance Reviews of all freestanding emergency department transports via EPIC reports to determine chargeable and non-chargeable transports, Reviews all other transports to determine non-chargeable transports Matches the CareLink ePCR via HL7 interface to the patient's EPIC record, Reports charts that will not match to appropriate IT staff for resolution to ensure that all CareLink run sheets interface into the patient's Cone Health EPIC record. Advances CareLink ePCR in Zoll emsCharts once matching is completed and any/all QA flags have been resolved Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related field
Experience Required:
3 Years as a
Paramedic Preferred:
Ambulance or critical care transport experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing Required:
Current valid NC Paramedic certification
