This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is based in San Jose, California. The position requires an organized and motivated professional with comfort and experience in networking and external relations. This role will also require public speaking and training experience with diverse audiences.
Qualifications:
Master's degree and/or related policy work experience A strong background in health care policy with an understanding of California's health care landscape, specifically Medi-Cal Strong writing skills including the ability to produce well organized and informative health care related reports, talking points and advocacy material Background and expertise in policy issues required Excellent analytical, research and written and oral communication skills. Working knowledge of the legislative processes as the federal, state and local levels Able and willingness to follow confidential practices. Attention to detail Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision Develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers Experience working with populations that are at/below the FPL, especially immigrant populations and ability to communicate in other languages is a PLUS! Key Responsibilities Identify, build, and maintain partnerships with key organizations and community leaders Participate in and attend CHP staff meetings, team meetings, and stakeholder meetings Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff, member clinics, and key stakeholders Responsible for the tracking, analyzing and reporting of current state and federal bills, and policies that may impact Community Health Centers Prepare testimony, technical reports, policy position papers and advocacy materials on key health issues and Immigration as appropriate With direction from the CEO and in collaboration with the Leadership Team, develop a policy strategy and secure interns to support the projects and activities Participate in planning and executing convenings as time allows Other responsibilities are assigned to meet project and agency mission, goals, and objectives Job Requirements Valid California driver's license, access to a vehicle, and proof of liability insurance TB clearance & willingness to follow Santa Clara County's Public Health Officer's Orders Successfully pass a criminal background check Ability to attend local meetings in-person (30%) Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and evenings (10%-15%)
