JOB SUMMARY
The Laboratory Information System (LIS) Implementation Analyst serves as a technical team lead on LIS implementations and upgrades. The LIS Implementation Analyst is considered a subject matter expert on LIS functionality and is particularly skilled vetting new functionality and troubleshooting issues. The LIS Implementation Analyst is also responsible as an MDI team member for maintaining data in the LIS to ensure quality and compliance for any CAP, CLIA and any other regulatory agencies as needed. The LIS Implementation Analyst ensures the accurate test build function, integration of client information and patient data for ordering, resulting, and billing processing of patient and client submissions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide technical guidance and direction as pertains to LIS functionality to Operations and IT Management as well as to other MDI team members. Represent MDI and provide leadership on projects involving new LIS installations and/or integrations at other locations. Work in close collaboration with the Director of Medical Data Integrity LIS to keep open lines of communication about ongoing projects, user requests and project statuses. Maintain, support, and maximize the functionality of existing systems and applications through user training on LIS files and data. Receive, prioritize, document, troubleshoot and resolve end-user requests, with respect to the LIS system. Resolve complex/escalated Track-It issues and make recommendations for improvements. Ensure the establishment and maintenance of procedures relating to the LIS. Conduct testing to validate functionality in test setup and reporting files before changes are put into use. Follow established IT Change Management policies and sign off procedures. Review, analyze and suggest application changes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and suggest strategies for maximizing functionality of the LIS application. Manage system downtime and ensure that back-up procedures are defined and implemented. Follow industry best practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information (PHI) and other sensitive company data. Maintain familiarity with and abide by the PathGroup Compliance Program and its corporate policies, including those surrounding Privacy and Security.
Requirements:
EDUCATION & LICENSURE
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Medical Technology, Healthcare Information Management or Information Systems with 2 years' experience in an LIS role OR 6 years' experience in an LIS role.
REQUIREMENTS
Clinical laboratory experience is preferred. SQL experience is required. Must possess a keen attention to detail. Must possess ability to work with and communicate with staff at all levels throughout the organization. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Must be able to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources to identify software and database solutions. Independent judgment is constantly required. Intermediate to advanced computer literacy skills and keyboard proficiency. Must have experience with laboratory information systems. Participation in on-call rotation schedule and/or afterhours availability required.
