Ability to obtain Public Trust About the Opportunity We are looking for an experienced data and analytics professional to support health-related programs within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In this role, you will help transform complex healthcare and operational data into meaningful information that can be used by program leaders to evaluate performance, identify trends, improve decision-making, and support strategic planning. The position combines hands-on data analysis with data management, reporting, visualization, and stakeholder engagement. You will work with large and varied datasets, develop analytical solutions, and communicate findings to both technical teams and senior decision-makers. What You'll Be Doing Examine healthcare and operational datasets to identify performance measures, data-quality issues, and indicators of progress against organizational objectives. Analyze patient populations and related trends to identify patterns, opportunities, and areas requiring attention. Evaluate healthcare utilization, costs, outcomes, and quality measures to produce actionable insights. Perform data extraction, cleansing, classification, transformation, mining, modeling, simulation, and optimization activities. Design approaches for acquiring, organizing, storing, and maintaining datasets and associated metadata. Work with large volumes of structured and unstructured information using analytical and visualization platforms such as Tableau, SAS, WPS, SPAA, and advanced Excel capabilities. Develop SQL queries and use Visual Basic or comparable scripting capabilities to retrieve, manipulate, and exchange information between systems. Move data between applications and analytical environments as required for further processing and assessment. Conduct exploratory analysis, identify relationships between variables, and develop graphical representations that make complex findings easier to interpret. Produce polished analytical reports, presentations, dashboards, and other materials that help leadership understand program performance and make informed decisions. Prepare and quality-check datasets for secure file exchange, transfer, and transmission. Use Microsoft Access, Excel, and related tools to organize, transform, and analyze information. Manage several concurrent analytical and delivery assignments while maintaining quality and deadlines. Take ownership of projects from initial requirements and solution design through implementation and final delivery. Collaborate with customers, program stakeholders, technical specialists, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle. Translate analytical results into clear recommendations that support mission priorities and operational improvements. Required Qualifications Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Federal Government or Department of Defense Public Trust determination. The required adjudication must be completed before onboarding. Candidates who already hold an active Public Trust or suitability determination are preferred. Master's degree in Data Analytics, Information Management, Information Governance, Informatics, Health Information Technology, or a related STEM discipline. At least 5 years of professional experience in healthcare analytics, health information management, informatics, information governance, or a closely related field involving comparable responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a customer-facing consulting environment. Strong ability to collaborate with both client organizations and internal delivery teams. Preferred Qualifications Candidates will stand out with experience in several of the following areas: Healthcare information systems and the way clinical and operational data is captured, managed, and exchanged. Health data standards and the Health Level Seven (HL7) framework. Databricks or comparable modern data platforms. Workflow and process automation using technologies such as Microsoft Power Apps and UiPath. Advanced data analysis and interpretation across diverse datasets. Developing analytical products for executive and senior management audiences. Managing complex assignments involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and demanding deadlines. Presenting technical findings clearly to senior leaders and customers, both verbally and in writing. Applying structured problem-solving techniques to ambiguous or rapidly changing requirements. Ideal Candidate Profile The strongest candidates will combine technical data expertise with business judgment and excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable investigating unfamiliar datasets, identifying meaningful patterns, explaining analytical conclusions, and working directly with customers to turn requirements into practical solutions. Experience in healthcare data environments is particularly valuable, as is an understanding of how data quality, governance, interoperability, and analytics contribute to effective mission delivery.
