Job Description

THIS POSITION IS NOT REMOTE AND MUST BE PERFORMED IN-PERSON ON OUR CAMPUS LOCATED IN WINSTON-SALEM, NC.
We are currently seeking a full-time Utilization Management Coordinator to join our talented and caring team. This position works a regular weekday schedule of 8am - 5pm. Our ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking skills, the ability to provide compassionate and competent care to a diverse patient population, must be able to build and maintain positive professional relationships with all hospital staff and patients, as well as demonstrate professional, effective communication skills. At Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services, we are helping to create brighter, healthier futures for our patients and their families. We are the Piedmont Triad's only private psychiatric hospital meeting the chemical dependency illnesses and behavioral healthcare needs of those in our community. Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. Old Vineyard is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Position Summary:
The Utilization Management Coordinator possesses knowledge of psychiatric clinical diagnosis and the ability to articulate those indicators professionally. Evaluates patient medical records to determine severity of patient's illness and determining the appropriateness of level of care. Serves as liaison for patients and hospital with insurance companies. Negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care. Has a working knowledge of all levels of care offered and appropriately manages patient benefits. Participates in the patient discharge process through Treatment Team meeting attendance.
Education :
Master's degree in counseling or related field.
Experience :
Five years experience in behavioral health field required. One year experience in utilization management within behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification :
Licensed professional (LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT).
Physical Requirements:
Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
