Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director, Quality/Risk Management, the PI Coordinator supports the design, monitoring, analysis and improvement of patient care and organizational functions. Participates in the development and implementation of the Hospital's Performance Improvement Program. Identifies the need for and conducts performance improvement studies. Prepares and presents related data and reports to medical staff clinical departments and services.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through two (2) years of training from an accredited college, preferably a registered nurse, a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) in order to acquire a thorough knowledge of performance improvement techniques and standards, develop a knowledge of the medical review process and techniques and learn data retrieval and reporting skills. Minimum experience level required is one to two years as registered nurse, RHIT or RHIA. Analytical ability to participate in the development of policies and procedures, conduct clinical case review activities, develop methods and techniques of deficiency resolution and review medical records data. Specific skills required for the position: Microsoft Office, Midas and other system-wide computer data-based software applications, presentation skills to assist in on-line case review during Medical Staff Peer Review activities and written communication skills to be able to communicate the peer review committee's interventions.
