Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medicaid Specialist to join our healthcare support team. In this vital role, you will serve as a key resource for navigating Medicaid regulations, managing patient records, and ensuring compliance with healthcare policies. Your expertise will help streamline patient services, facilitate accurate medical coding, and support individuals from underserved communities with complex health needs. Responsibilities Assist clients with Medicaid eligibility verification, enrollment, and renewal processes to ensure seamless access to healthcare benefits Review and accurately process medical records, billing information, and documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems Apply CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding standards for medical billing and claims submissions Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and case managers to coordinate discharge planning and treatment services for patients with mental health or behavioral health conditions Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality during all data entry and client communication activities Conduct intake assessments for new clients, especially individuals with co-occurring disorders or from underserved communities Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries related to Medicaid coverage, medical terminology, and healthcare support options Qualifications Proven experience working in hospital settings or acute care environments with familiarity in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10) and medical terminology Strong knowledge of Medicaid regulations, health insurance policies, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR management) systems Background in social work or behavioral health services is highly desirable, particularly experience working with individuals with mental health conditions or co-occurring disorders Excellent data entry skills combined with attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes Bilingual abilities are preferred to effectively communicate with diverse client populations Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards Exceptional client communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to supporting underserved communities Join our team as a Medicaid Specialist and become an essential part of a compassionate organization committed to improving healthcare access.
