Job Description

Job Summary The Principal Trainer is responsible for supporting clinical information systems through user training, system support, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and problem resolution. The role requires expertise in Epic Cupid, strong knowledge of clinical applications, and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and technical users across multiple sites. The position is hybrid and may require some evening and weekend work. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide training and user support for clinical information systems and related applications.
  • Troubleshoot training-related issues and distinguish between system build issues and training issues.
  • Identify, document, and communicate system issues so that appropriate technical teams can investigate and resolve them.
  • Research complex issues that cross multiple applications and operational departments.
  • Develop, test, and implement effective solutions to system and training-related problems.
  • Support system design, development, implementation, maintenance, quality assurance, testing, and evaluation activities.
  • Design and execute system tests and analyze system performance data.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and analyses related to system functionality and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with users across professional and technical levels to provide effective training and support.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations related to functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and system performance.
  • Manage training and support activities while prioritizing tasks and meeting project deadlines.
  • Escalate issues that may impact multiple users, patient safety, compliance, or medical risk to appropriate leadership.
  • Escalate workflow solutions that require changes to electronic health record workflows through appropriate governance processes.
  • Escalate projects when scope changes significantly. Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare information technology, computer science, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Epic certification in Cupid.
  • Broad and/or in-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas within clinical applications specialty areas.
  • Knowledge of clinical information system functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, system testing, and evaluation.
  • Strong problem-resolution skills with the ability to diagnose problems and develop, test, and implement appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to train, support, and collaborate effectively with clinical information system users.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and complete projects on schedule.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical information and instructions.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to design and execute tests, analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses.
  • Ability to work with senior staff and managers as a technical resource and provide recommendations on functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience troubleshooting complex training and clinical application issues.
  • Experience researching issues that span multiple applications and operational departments.
  • Experience supporting electronic health record workflows and clinical application environments.
  • Experience working with users who require additional training or support during system adoption and workflow changes. Certifications
  • Epic Cupid Certification.
