The Dakota State Applied Research Corporation (DARC) is a dynamic research entity advancing cutting-edge solutions in cybersecurity, technology, and digital innovation. Leveraging expertise of skilled researchers and industry professionals, DARC engages in collaborative projects, applied research, and technology development initiatives to address real-world challenges faced by businesses, government entities, and communities. Primary Responsibilities Support vendor-neutral reviews of Electronic Health Record systems, workflows, and related healthcare technology environments. Assess EHR workflows, data integrity, access controls, and other security considerations and provide actionable recommendations. Support Health Information Exchange and interoperability readiness assessments, including interface planning and data-sharing considerations. Evaluate EHR practices and workflows for alignment with applicable healthcare privacy, security, and regulatory requirements. Analyze EHR and HIE interoperability environments and develop clear reports, findings, and recommendations based on assessment results. Work with healthcare providers and project team members to identify

interoperability, workflow, and data-integrity challenges. Adapt to different healthcare environments, EHR platforms, provider workflows, and technical configurations. Contribute to the development of EHR and HIE readiness checklists, assessment methodologies, and other technical assistance resources. Perform other duties as assigned by program staff.

Requirements:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to accurate recordkeeping, secure information handling, and consistent and timely follow-through. Ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a dynamic, evolving work environment. Familiarity with HIPAA requirements, particularly as they relate to electronic health records, patient data, access controls, and healthcare information systems. Familiarity with EHR systems, clinical workflows, and healthcare data-entry and documentation practices. Familiarity with healthcare interoperability and HIE concepts. Familiarity with healthcare coding and clinical terminology standards, such as ICD-10 and

SNOMED CT.

Ability to evaluate EHR workflows, data-integrity risks, and access-control considerations. Ability to analyze technical and operational information and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports based on analysis and assessment results. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Ability to work independently, learn unfamiliar technologies and environments, and solve novel problems. Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience.
