Township of Shelby, MI Job Details Full-time From $35 an hour 7 hours ago Qualifications RRT BLS Certification Supervising experience Leadership Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, motivated Lead Respiratory Therapist to oversee the daily operations of three Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) laboratories - Shelby Township, St. Clair Shores, and Grosse Pointe. This position is ideal for a respiratory therapist who enjoys leadership, education, problem-solving, and providing high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining laboratory operations, and ensuring exceptional patient care while spending the majority of the workweek performing pulmonary function testing. Duties Oversee the daily operations of three Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) laboratories. Perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs), six-minute walk (6MW) testing, and oxygen titration studies. Train and mentor staff in pulmonary function testing, six-minute walk (6MW) testing and oxygen titration studies, inhaler instruction, and lung disease education Develop and manage staff schedules. Prepare and submit monthly reports. Keep staff informed of current best practices, new procedures, and departmental updates. Oversee all pulmonary function laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and coordination of upgrades. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and inventory. Assist with training of new staff members. Serve as the primary resource for physicians, providers, and clinical staff regarding pulmonary function testing procedures, equipment, and patient education. Work independently while collaborating with physicians, leadership, and clinical staff. Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and other computer applications for scheduling, reporting, and documentation. Demonstrate excellent communication, organization, leadership, and critical-thinking skills. Qualifications Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Minimum of 3-5 years of pulmonary function testing experience preferred. Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not required. Extensive experience performing pulmonary function testing (PFTs), six-minute walk (6MW) testing, and oxygen titration studies. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word. Reliable transportation required. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Schedule Full-time 40-hours Monday through Friday. No weekends or holiday work required. The majority of the workweek will consist of performing pulmonary function testing. One day each week will be dedicated to administrative and management responsibilities.
